Meeting of the University Commission for the Quality of Medical Education

On Nov. 8th, our University hosted members of the University Commission for the Quality of Medical Education (UKJKKL). The Medical University of Warsaw was represented by Prof. Marek Kulus, MD, PhD, who has been appointed Vice – Chairperson of the Commission for the 2017-2020 term.

The meeting was an opportunity to present the results of the Polish delegation’s discussions with the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) of the American Department of Education regarding medical education in Poland.  Discussions focused on the NCFMEA’s suggested changes to the current Polish medical education accreditation survey and on the revisions made to the NCFMEA’s accreditation guidelines dated May 15th, 2017.

Worth noting is the history of the University Commission for the Quality of Medical Education. It was established by virtue of the resolution No. 79/2016 adopted by the Conference of Rectors of University Medical Schools (KRAUM) March 18th, 2016.The UKJKKL operates according to the Higher Education Law Act of July 27th 2005 and on the applicable regulations issued by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Science and Higher Education, as well as on the core in-house documents drafted by the Accreditation Committee of University Medical Schools and approved by the KRAUM. The UKJKKL is a body representing the academic communities of University Medical Schools, independent of state authorities, with opinion-making competencies and an aim to cooperate with other institutions dealing with the assessment of the quality of teaching and accreditation.
